To commemorate Memorial Day, ABMC is releasing “Memorial Day 2017: The Cost of Freedom (link is external).” This short film features three family members who have a loved one buried overseas. Robert Meek, son of 2nd Lt. Robert H. Meek, Bill Chiodo, son of 2nd Lt. Godfrey J. Savard, and Thomas Lanagan, nephew of Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, all participated in video interviews to tell the story of their family member. This film includes short excerpts from these interviews, where these men talk about the true cost of freedom in the United States. Staff from ABMC’s Office of External Affairs conducts these interviews at its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, and then uses portions of the videos to share the agency’s mission.

With more than 400,000 Americans who died in World War II, the ripple of this loss is still felt strongly today.  If you have a family member honored overseas, and live in the Washington, DC area or will be traveling to the area,  and would like to participate in an on-camera interview, send ABMC an email (link sends e-mail).
